FIREFIGHTERS dealt with a crop field fire near Downton.
The incident was reported to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service just after 4pm on Saturday (August 6).
A fire crew from Verwood, who were en route to provide stand by cover at Salisbury Fire Station whose firefighters were dealing with a combine harvester fire, attended the scene along with five other appliances.
A post on the Verwood Fire Station Facebook page said: "A crop field had caught fire which spread rapidly due to the dry conditions.
"Now fully extinguished, returned to home station at 8pm."
