TWO teenagers were arrested over hare coursing.
Salisbury Community Policing Team (CPT) officers arrested an 18-year-old man and 14-year-old male on the evening of July 28 for hunting hares with dogs in in violation of Section 1 of The Hunting Act 2004.
Police say it happened in an area south of Salisbury.
Rural Crime Team Sergeant Rob Goacher said: “Thanks to information received from members of the public, who provided an accurate location, Salisbury CPT officers were able to take decisive action.
“As farmers start to harvest the crops, hare coursers increasingly take advantage of the open fields to illegally hunt hares and other mammals with dogs. I would ask anyone who sees hare coursing in progress to call 999 or report online or call 101 should you find evidence of hare coursing having taken place.”
"We do not advise people to approach suspected poachers, but video or photographic evidence taken from a safe distance can be helpful. Please do not put yourself or others at risk of harm.”
The pair arrested have been released under investigation.
