TWO massive beams have been delivered to the A31 at Ringwood ahead of construction on the brand-new bridge.
With foundations and supports already being built, the 45m beams will form an integral part of the new flyover when construction starts next week.
Ringwood resident Jonathan Boswell captured images of the new beams when they arrived on Tuesday, August 2, and uploaded them to social media – with followers noting how “huge” they were.
Due to their size, the A31 will close for two nights in two consecutive weeks in order for easier manoeuvrability during the construction process and as more beams arrive.
The first closures will take place on Tuesday, August 9 and Wednesday August 10 from 8pm to 6am with the closure of the A31 westbound lanes (towards Bournemouth) between M27 J1 Cadnam to A338 Ashley Heath Roundabout.
There will be diversions in place via the A336, A326, A35, A3060 and A338.
Identical closures will take place one week later on Tuesday August 16 and Wednesday 17. The diversions will be the same.
