One teenager from Boscombe Down has made it into Korean newspapers after meeting the pilots of the Korean air display team.
The 53rd Air Demonstration Group - with the nickname Black Eagles - has been flying regularly across the skies over Salisbury.
Isla Russell, aged 17, a student at Andover college, managed to capture a video of one of the displays as the team flew over her house.
She uploaded it and tagged them on Instagram and also uploaded a welcome sign for them.
To her surprise, one of their trainee pilots messaged her to ask if they could use her video as it showed the Tornado plane landing.
Isla was thrilled, adding: “I said yes of course and sent a message back saying I was going to the air show in Gloucester, and they said to come and find them.”
Isla added: “We went to the Royal International Air Tattoo and the pilots recognised the sign I was holding, so we got to meet them in person.”
Isla had also written a letter to them in their native language and gave them gifts of engraved dog tags with union jacks on them.
Touched by her efforts to write in their language, they told her the letter was well-written.
After this, Isla found she had been filmed for a Korean TV News channel.
She added: “It gets better. I didn’t manage to get all their signatures and asked the major if I could get the rest, so we got to see them at their hotel.
“We had some group photos taken and the captain gave me some gifts including an official pin badge.”
One of the majors of the Black Eagles later informed her that she had made it into many of the newspapers back in Korea, and even sent her a copy.
