INSECTS may not be a favourite of many, but their demise could have far-reaching consequences and be disastrous for wildlife and for human food supply.
The author of ‘Rebugging the Planet: The Remarkable Things that Insects (and Other Invertebrates) Do’ is giving a talk at the Salisbury Museum this week to explain the importance of invertebrates and the role they play.
Becoming bug friendly by creating safe spaces in gardens will be critical and during the talk, Vicki Hird will explore how even the food and clothes purchased can impact invertebrates.
A fellow of the Royal Entomological Society and head of sustainable farming for Sustain – the alliance for better food and farming, Vicki also works as a part-time consultant for NGOs and institutions including for the RSPB, Greenpeace, and others.
Rebugging the Planet – one shop, garden and vote at a time takes place on Thursday July 28 at 7.30pm. Tickets can be booked online.
