Students have raised more than £12,000 towards new facilities at Ringwood School.
The school is raising £100,000 which will go towards the technical installation in The Barn, its new performance venue and The Stables, a refurbished student eatery and socialising space.
On Friday, July 15, Ringwood School held a ‘Colour Dash’ fundraising event, which was made up of a 3.5m route around Ringwood with five colour stations where students were hit with coloured powders thrown by staff.
Sam Coombes, the school's operations manager who organised the event, said: “The atmosphere was very uplifting and seeing our young people and staff having so much fun again after almost two years of disruption was fantastic.
"We were proud to run an event bringing so many members of the local community together, and of course lots of fun was had in the process of raising an incredible of money.”
More than 1000 students took part, joined by 120 staff. Students were able to purchase various neon accessories for the event to make the day as bright and colourful as possible.
After weeks of fundraising, students have raised £12,189.88 with donations still coming in.
The school has also thanked the team marshals and say "without them the event simply could not have taken place" adding: "They were a fantastic and energetic team of parents, local community group members and extended family members of staff and students.
After the event a few areas were left a little more 'colourful' than hoped. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and the team at Ringwood Fire Station have also been thanked for their help in hosing down over the weekend and on Monday.
The Barn is a new build project at Ringwood School and is the result of four years of planning and obtaining funding.
Funding of £2.8m was awarded to the school via the Education and Skills Funding Agency's Condition Improvement Fund (CIF).
The CIF programme is an annual round of bidding under which academy schools and colleges can apply for funding for the upkeep and improvement of their buildings and to fund expansion projects for schools that have been rated good or outstanding by Ofsted.
The Barn will open in September with an exciting line up of events including hosting BBC Radio 4’s ‘Any Questions?’ on Friday, September 30.
