A POLISH baker working in Salisbury is facing moves to extradite him to his homeland where he is wanted for alleged drug trafficking and supplying.

Dariusz Fediow, 28, faces a maximum of 15 years in jail back in Poland the City of Westminster Magistrates Court was told last week. He was arrested at Churchfields Industrial Estate, Salisbury, where he works.

Fediow, said to be living in Southampton, was remanded until tomorrow for an extradition hearing and granted bail with conditions of residence, a security of £300, and on condition he reports to Shirley Police Station.

The court was told he has been living at Chester Court in Winchester Road, Southampton, for two years with his girlfriend and has a young child.

Miss Samantha Davies, for the Polish government, said he faces five offences involving "illicit trafficking," supplying drugs to three people and possession of "lower class drugs." She said the maximum sentences for the alleged offences range from eight to 15 years.

Miss Davies added: "Between July, 2004 and August, 2004, and January to September, 2005, he allegedly conspired with another man to smuggle an amount of heroin, worth more than £4,000.

"Between July 2005 and August 2005, he supplied specific amounts of heroin to three individuals worth a total £270 and between January 2001 and September 2005 was in possession of marijuana and hashish."

The court was told Fediow, who was said to work six nights a week in a bakery, has no previous convictions in this country or Poland.
