A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested and released on bail in connection with a violent attack on a vulnerable middle-aged man at his Salisbury home on Friday night.

The victim, in his 50s, was at his home in Bourne Avenue when a unknown man entered the property at about 9.45pm and assaulted him.

He suffered minor head injuries and had to receive hospital treatment but was said this week to be making a good recovery - although the attack had left him extremely shaken.

Police said it was known the assailant had been outside the vulnerable man's address for some considerable time and neighbours had reported hearing a commotion.

They have appealed for witnesses and would particularly like to hear from anyone who saw a man described as being aged between 20-30, of slim to medium build, with shaven or closely cropped hair and wearing a light coloured pullover.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Sonia Marsh 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
