SALISBURY is one of the most musical cities, a new analysis of Google data has revealed.
Research from Musiversity suggests that Salisbury is the seventh most musically inclined area in the UK, with the city’s music enthusiasts regularly searching online for how to play instruments.
The most searched for musical instruments include the piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, violin, and drums.
Adam Holmes, director of Musiversity, said: “With more and more people using the internet for finding information and services, it’s no surprise that increasing numbers of people are looking online to find music lessons, courses, and teachers.
“In this study, we wanted to see which parts of the UK were getting the highest percentage of their populations looking online to start learning music and, as someone who spends a lot of time myself in Salisbury, I’m delighted to see the city has turned up in the top ten.
“It’s great news for local music teachers and related businesses, as there will be plenty of demand for music lessons if the high level of musical interest in Salisbury continues.”
According to the data, the top 10 musical cities are:
1. Truro
2. Ely
3. Bangor
4. Ripon
5. Chichester
6. Newry
7. Salisbury
8. Stirling
9. Lichfield
10. Perth
The study revealed that Salisbury residents made almost 90 times more searches per-capita than the national average which indicates a high interest amongst the population for taking up music.
