A SECTION of the A303 near Amesbury was closed due to a nearby fire.
**UPDATE** At 3.55pm police confirmed the road has reopened, as firefighters remain onsite.
At around 3.45pm today, July 19, emergency services reported they were dealing with the fire on land close to Longbarrow Roundabout.
The road was closed in both directions.
A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police said: "We have closed a section of the A303 close to Longbarrow Roundabout, near Amesbury.
"This is due to a fire on land close to the road."
Motorists were urged to find alternative routes.
