A man in his 30s sustained a broken jaw and bruising after an incident in Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury.

Officers were called at approximately 8.40pm yesterday (July 18) following a report that a disorder was ongoing.

Wiltshire Police say there was a verbal altercation prior to the disorder.

It is believed three people were involved in the assault and they are described as:

Police also believe a child between the age of nine and 11 was also present.

Detective Sergeant Toni Nugent said: “We understand there may have been a verbal altercation prior to the disorder which led to the victim sustaining a very nasty injury to his jaw. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

“We have cordoned off a small area in Queen Elizabeth Gardens near the footpath from the play park towards Mill Road while we carry out enquiries at the scene.

“We’d like to urgently speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or recognises the descriptions given. We would also appeal to anyone who may have footage of the disorder, or CCTV footage from the local area which may have captured the suspects, to please get in touch.”
