THERE will be some changes in Brown Street car park next week, as Wiltshire Council carries out safety work in the area.

Starting on July 25, this part of the council’s maintenance programme aims to help reduce trip hazards on the car park's footpath, caused by five trees.

Work will be carried out on the base of the trees that will not only make the footpath safer, but also help protect the tree roots for the longer-term, the council says.

The work is expected to last for five working days.

During this time, a temporary footpath will be set up adjacent to the existing one to allow people to cross the car park.

Clear signage will be visible in the area.

Ian Blair-Pilling, cabinet member for operational assets, said: “This is a well-used car park and footpath so this work, which forms part of our maintenance programme, will make the area safer and also help protect the roots of the trees.

“We will ensure to keep disruption to the public to a minimum.”
