FEW PEOPLE can say they have worked for just one company for 50 years but one employee in Amesbury has done just that.
Len Tryhorn 65 left school and began working as a temp for The Tintometer Ltd company on July 24, 1972. It was originally based in Waterloo Road in Salisbury although is now located in Amesbury.
His progression within the company led to him managing the purchasing department first and for a while, he also managed the production department. This was alongside his other duties.
He later decided to make the production department his sole focus.
Steve Strong 62 is the assistant production manager and has worked for the company for 10 years.
He said: “Len will be missed. He has been here for so long that he is the cornerstone of this company. He is a happy person and a very good colleague and always happy to offer support. It will be a shock to come in on August 1 and not see him here.”
Len enjoys his countryside pursuits including fishing and is an enthusiast of bustards which are the rare birds on Salisbury Plain.
Steve added: “I think he is looking forward to his retirement. He will be kept busy with his grandchildren, and he is also an amateur radio fan.
“We will also miss his knowledge, but I have joked that I have his number so can call him if needed.”
Following 50 years of service to The Tintometer Ltd company providing water and colour analysis, Len Tryhorn will officially retire on July 29.
