AN HISTORIC performance took place at Stonehenge World Heritage Site at the end of June when pupils from Larkhill Primary School became the first children to perform a play at this ancient monument.
The pupils from reception to Year 6 wrote the play and sang, danced, and acted to an audience of parents and staff.
Emily Taylor, the principal at Larkhill Primary School, and chief organiser for the event, said: “All our staff and parents were blown away by a really incredible performance by our pupils.
“We are so proud of the hard work they put into practising their roles and lines, and the amazing imagination and enthusiasm evident in the play.”
The play celebrated the school’s relationship with the ancient monument and told the story of Stonehenge.
Emily Taylor added: “We’d also like to thank The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust for making this possible, our amazing local community for supporting our pupils, and every child for putting their very best into the performance and making it such a great show.”
Professionals from Prime Theatre UK worked with English Heritage and provided workshops at the school to help the pupils with the writing process and to learn how to express themselves.
