FURTHER disruptions are likely for Salisbury residents following the announcement of additional rail strikes in August.
The Rail, Maritime, and Transport union (RMT) has confirmed that Network Rail and 14 train operators will walk out on August 18 and 20.
These dates are in addition to the strike on July 27, and Britain's trade union for train drivers (ASLEF) is also striking on July 30 as part of the same dispute.
The strike dates follow the RMT’s rejection of the recent pay offer where it states the offer amounts to a real terms pay cut over a two-year period. The union says it will also cut one third of frontline maintenance roles and affect 50 per cent of scheduled maintenance work.
The strikes are likely to affect trains running on August 17, 19 and 21 too, as this is one of the busiest weekends for travellers across the country.
