THE country almost came to a standstill last month when the railway strikes took place.
Now, a new strike date has been announced.
Train services running through Salisbury will once again be halted, this time on July 27.
A number of rail operators across the country, including South Western and Great Western, are planning to take industrial action due to job security, pay and working conditions.
The decision comes after the Rail, Maritime, and Transport Union (RMT) declined a two-year deal from Network Rail which was worth five per cent to all members plus more for those earning less than £30,000.
The RMT states that it equates to real terms pay cut and would lead to only half of scheduled maintenance work being fulfilled.
The Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen and the Transport Salaried Staff’s Association have also backed industrial action recently.
The next strike will start from 2am on Wednesday, July 27, for 24 hours.
