AN INVITATION mistake brought amusement to Salisbury homeowners last week, who were told the mayor of a Zimbabwe city was visiting.
Celebrating the opening of Nightingale Square, a new complex off Fountain Way, Wilton Road, property development company Platinum Skies is holding an official launch event next week.
When invitations were sent out however, the special guest was revealed as 'Mayor of Salisbury' Jacob Mafume.
Mr Mafume is in fact mayor of Harare, formerly Salisbury, in Zimbabwe.
Following the confusion invitations have now been amended, confirming Salisbury city's actual mayor, Tom Corbin, will be in attendance.
The retirement living developers admitted the mistake, and reissued the email invitations with the correct name.
Detailing the event, the invite reads: "Mingle with your new neighbours and have a dance for the official opening of Nightingale Square!
"Get the chance to meet the Mayor of Salisbury Tom Corbin who will be joining us for the celebration.
"Don’t miss an old fashioned British party, with live music, an ice cream stand and a Pimms station so why not pop in and celebrate as a Platinum Skies family this summer!"
