A designer bag donated by The Crown star Olivia Colman is just one of the items up for grabs at a charity auction for Salisbury’s Stars Appeal.

The auction is being held in conjunction with Lord and Lady Pembroke and is running as a timed online auction until July 1, with seven premium lots to be sold in a live auction at Wilton House that evening.

Among the lots on offer are bottles of wine, jewellery, vintage handbags and works of art by artists including Sean Henry and Stephen Pettifer.

There are also tours of stately homes including Fonthill, Stourhead, Chettle House and Longford Castle, many including lunch with the hosts.

Olivia Colman, who is an honorary patron of the Stars Appeal, has donated the Prada bag that was made for her appearance at the 2019 Academy Awards, where she won Best Actress for The Favourite.

There is also a special message for the successful bidder from the actress.

Salisbury auctioneers, Woolley and Wallis, is hosting the timed auction on its website, where bids can be left on all 59 lots up until 8pm on Friday, July 1.

Woolley and Wallis Chairman John Axford said: “Lord Pembroke and his fellow supporters have donated some wonderful lots to benefit the Stars Appeal and rather than just being available to a handful of people at a single event, they can be viewed and bought by anybody around the world.

"So far we have seen the most interest in the “money can’t buy” lots, such as a pair of Formula One gloves signed by Lando Norris, and tours of various stately homes including lunch with the owners. Bidding is really only just getting underway but we are very proud to be supporting this and really hope that this will be a successful venture for the Stars Appeal.”

Any bids on the last seven lots, which include tickets to the Ladies’ Semi-Final at Wimbledon, a stay in a Pyrenees farmhouse, and a Banksy artwork donated by Lord and Lady Pembroke themselves, will be actioned later that evening in a live auction.

All proceeds from the auction will go to benefit the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital, which supports a range of long-term patients from cancer sufferers to premature births. The appeal is aiming to raise £1m over the course of 2022.

Next month, the Stars Appeal will be holding its Walk for Wards, which takes place on Sunday, July 3.

This is the first time Walk for Wards has been held in person since before the pandemic started and the Stars Appeal is delighted for the event to be back at Wilton House this year.

Nearly1,600 people have already registered for this year’s event and pledged to raise funds for the Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospital’s Charity.

It is free to enter and includes a free lunch and free admission to the Wilton House grounds and adventure playground afterwards.

Registration closes on Tuesday, June 28. Visit: starsappeal.org/event/walk-for-wards
