A MAN in his 40s was arrested following an alleged burglary, crash and police chase in the early hours. 

At around 3am today, June 17, police were called to reports of a burglary along Butts Road in Salisbury.

Officers conducted searches of the area and attempted to stop a Skoda Superb.

The vehicle failed to stop for officers and crashed with a Ford Transit van. Damage was caused to a wall as a result.

The driver then fled the scene on foot but was located in a garden along Castle Road.

Further enquiries found that the Skoda had been stolen from an address in Avon Terrace earlier in the evening.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop for police, failing to stop following a collision, dangerous driving, burglary (two counts), drug driving and aggravated vehicle taking.

He was taken to Melksham custody for questioning.

Detective inspector Dean Garvin of Salisbury CID said: “After some quick-thinking by our community policing teams, detectives are now investigating a number of burglaries that took place overnight.

"I am pleased to report that one man has been arrested and is currently in custody.

"Enquiries are continuing – if you have any information either related to the two burglaries already reported, or you are aware of any suspicious activity overnight in the Salisbury area, please get in touch.”
