A SALISBURY hairdressing family has made the final of the long-established British Hairdressing Business Awards.
The awards were first launched in 1998 and have previously honoured names like Trevor Sorbie, Lee Stafford, and Toni & Guy.
Husband and wife Phil and Louise Smith are up for three prestigious titles and already hold numerous hairdressing awards between them.
Phil Smith ran Smith England on High Street for more than a decade and has two top-selling haircare ranges. He has been short-listed for Business Director of the Year due to his forward-thinking leadership and record of success.
Phil said: “I’m thrilled to have made the finals of such a respected event. Leading a business is an incredible journey of growth, all of which has been supported by the commitment of my brilliant team, not least my daughter Ellie Smith, who manages the salon.
“Whilst my name is a finalist, it’s definitely been a team effort. I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved, both as a business and an industry over the last year.”
A panel of expert judges will make the difficult decision as to who will win the title.
Louise Smith has made the final stages of the competition with her salon Toni & Guy Salisbury which she runs with her son, George Smith.
The awards include Franchisee of the Year and Salon Team of the Year.
Louise said: “I’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this stage in my career and I’m really proud of everything I’ve achieved - the support that comes with a franchise has been invaluable too, so I hope to inspire others to consider it as a viable way of starting a salon business.”
Jayne Lewis-Orr, the executive director of the British Hairdressing Business Awards said: "These awards are recognition of the standout people and businesses in the hairdressing industry, celebrating their talent, passion, and commitment to making British hairdressing so revered.
"All the team at Toni & Guy Salisbury should feel proud to be recognised for working together to create a successful salon.”
Jayne added: “To make the Business Director of the Year shortlist, nominees need to show true entrepreneurial spirit, as well as having the expertise to drive their business forward while standing out from the competition. Phil should feel proud of his resilience and head for business."
The British Hairdressing Awards is recognised globally, and seventeen trophies will be awarded at the finals later this year.
