A SPACE has risen in Salisbury City Council, after a Conservative member resigned earlier this week.
Paul Cunningham, of Harnham West, has stepped down from his role, resulting in a vacancy for this ward being advertised.
The city council states that an election to fill the vacancy will only be held if 10 electors from the Harnham West Ward write to the returning officer at Wiltshire Council by May 26.
If an election is called, it will take place no later than August 2.
The election request form can be found on the Salisbury City Council website or collected from the Salisbury Information Centre.
Mr Cunningham has been approached for comment.
Councillor Brian Dalton (Lib Dem), also of Harnham West Ward, said a by-election is "likely" following the resignation, adding "work pressure" was the "official reason".
