A plastic surgeon from Salisbury has been charged with alleged child abuse images offences.

Mansoor Khan, who had worked at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust as a plastic surgeon since 2009, has been suspended from work since August 2021.

The 53-year-old has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children following an investigation by the National Crime Agency.

An NCA spokesman said the images ranged from category C to the most serious, category A, but do not relate to any of Khan's patients.

The experienced surgeon, who specialises in reconstructive surgery, breast surgery, body contouring and 'facial rejuvenation', will appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on May 27.

Khan, from Salisbury, was suspended in August last year by Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust pending the investigation.

Dr Peter Collins, Chief Medical Officer at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, said: "The Trust has fully supported the National Crime Agency investigation and recognises the seriousness of the charges against Mr Khan.

"If any of our patients or their parents and guardians who have been treated by Mr Khan at Salisbury Hospital have any concerns we would encourage them to contact our Patient Advocacy and Liaison Service (PALS) for support."

Dr Collins added: "Patients awaiting treatment by Mr Khan will be transferred to an alternative surgeon at the hospital and will be directly notified by the team."

He had worked at University Hospital Southampton until October last year and has been suspended since the allegations came to light.

A spokesperson for University Hospital Southampton, where Khan worked between 2012 and October 2021, said: "The Trust has been reassured by the investigation team at the National Crime Agency that none of the charges relate to his clinical work at UHS.

"We have fully supported the National Crime Agency investigation and recognise the seriousness of the charges against Mr Khan."
