SALISBURY’S very own replica giant will be coming to events in the city from this weekend.
The copies of St Christopher the Giant and his companion Hobnob will be attending the St George’s Day festivities in the Market Place this Sunday, April 24.
Salisbury City Councillor Paul Sample is urging residents to help in carrying the spectacle to and from the event, as well as future occasions.
Cllr Sample added that the giant, complete with sword and battle mace, will then appear at the May Spring Fayre on Bank Holiday Monday, May 2.
He said: “[St Christopher] hasn’t appeared for some years because we couldn’t get anyone to put him in a van to drive him around.
"It’s great we’re getting him out for St George’s Day celebrations but we need help in getting him fully up and running again.”

Talking about St George’s Day, council event organisers said: “The day will be packed full of fun with free workshops, live music, storytelling, puppet shows and much more in Salisbury Market Place.”
