IT’S finally happening – Primark is coming to Salisbury.
...Or not - April fools! Did we have you fooled? Carry on reading our prank story below:
After years of debate, rumours and rejection, the discount chain has now revealed it will be setting up in the heart of the city after all.
The company will be bringing its range of fashionable clothes, accessories and homeware to the Old George Mall.
The budget store is looking forward to bringing all the latest trends and styles to fashion-hungry shoppers locally, with an opening anticipated for a few weeks’ time.
“It’s about time, I’ve personally been pushing for a Salisbury Primark for as long as I can remember, and now they’re letting me be in charge – a dream come true,” said Cliff Hangar, to be store manager.
Also chairman of Salisbury’s Rural Shop Association, Mr Hangar added: “We really want to tailor this Primark to Salisbury - we’re thinking beige, tweed, gilets, we know exactly what people here like.”
In the lead up to the opening, the store has already "carefully selected" around 1,000 Primark lovers as staff.
“I’m really excited to start working here, I always love looking at the bedding selection,” said soon-to-be employee Matt Tress.
Mr Hangar confessed this new store will come with a twist.
Salisbury Primark is to be the first in the company to have a wedding dress department.
“It’s such a brilliant addition to all the wonderful products Primark already offers – helping the bride on a budget for sure. There will be a dress suitable for every blushing bride,” he said.
Anita Mann, the designer behind the new wedding dress range, will be the special guest cutting the ribbon on launch day.
She said: “I love Salisbury so much, and I’ve tried to reflect that in these garments.
“I hope Salisbury gives this sparkling new department a chance, and enjoys this collection as much as I enjoyed creating it.”
More information about opening times and location to be revealed after today, April 1.
