Many groups in Salisbury have been collecting donations to take to the Ukrainian borders for refugees fleeing the Russian invasion.

Some of these have stopped for the time being, while other businesses have started raising money for charities in other ways.

Here is a round-up of what is going on in and around Salisbury to support Ukraine.

Easter Egg hunt

What is going on: Easter-themed hat, art and egg hunt competitions with raffle, followed by tea, cakes and savoury bites

When and where: 10am-midday, Saturday April 16 at The Butt of Sherry pub, Mere

Jordan & Mason

When and where to donate: Drop off goods this week at Jordan & Mason, 4 St Thomas's Square, or at Begbies Traynor, Hilltop Business Park, Units 1 to 3 on Devizes Road

The company is taking a lorry and trailer to the Ukraine/Polish border on March 22

What to donate: batteries, torches, new or in very good condition thermal clothing, hats and gloves, antiseptic, nappies, wipes, sanitary products, sleeping bags and bedding, flasks, hot water bottles, medical supplies like painkillers, sudocrem, and dressings, plasters

Casa Fina

High Street independent Casa Fina is selling sunflowers for £3.99, online and in store, to go towards the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal (Disasters Emergency Committee)

Give a refugee a room

What is going on: The Government's new Homes for Ukraine scheme will offer £350 a month to people offering spare rooms for refugees in their homes. Volunteers must be able to provide accommodation for at least six months, and those arriving and also those hosting will have to meet security and safeguarding checks

When and where: On Friday (March 18), visa applications will open for Ukrainians (and immediate family members) who already have named people willing to sponsor them

Art in the Guildhall

What is going on: An art exhibition from children of Ukraine (called Children of Hope) will raise money for two charities in Ukraine (The Voices of Children Foundation and The City of Goodness)

The artworks have been digitally downloaded and are available to buy through independent Ukrainian artists on Etsy

When and where: Salisbury Guildhall, from Friday (March 18) to next Thursday (March 24), from 9am-5pm

Free admission

The exhibition will then move to the gallery in Salisbury Library

Clearway Crafts

When and where to donate? Clearway Craft Unit, Clearway Garage, A30 London Road, Firsdown, open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 10.30am-4pm

What to donate: sanitary items, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorants, cotton buds, soaps, paracetamol, ibuprofen, multivitamins, hair brushes, hair clips, hand creams, face wipes

Armishaws Removals

When and where to donate: Armishaws Removals, Netherhampton Road, from Monday-Friday, 8.30am-4pm

What to donate: dried food, tinned food, rice/pasta, packets of soups/noodles, instant foods, sanitary products, basic medical supplies/first aid, toiletries, adult incontinence products

Anything to note: Items should be donated during their working hours so they can be taken indoors out of wet weather, as they cannot send wet items

No longer accepting donations

Many places are no longer accepting donations - the Head to Toe salon, Salisbury Investment Casting, and the donation points at Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre and the Nadder Centre in Tisbury are all no longer accepting donations
