TWO men will be driving from Salisbury to Poland next week to deliver essential products to refugees fleeing Ukraine.

In light of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia James Jordan, of Jordan and Mason Estate Agents, and Ian Hudson will be travelling to Przemyśl to drop off a variety of basic, everyday items.

With a lorry prepared for the venture, Mr Jordan is urging the public to donate items to the cause including sleeping bags, socks, wet wipes, nappies, sanitary products, toothpaste and brushes, batteries, torches, paracetamol, plasters, bandages, first-aid kits, protein bars, and phone battery packs.

Ahead of the 1,200-mile drive, he said: "We have all sat and watched the news with heavy hearts, it just makes you feel helpless.

"What we're really looking for is people to donate just basics and essentials, we have five to six tonnes of space to fill.

"It's just doing something that in a small way can make a difference to people."

The pair will begin the drive next Tuesday, March 22, so this week is the only opportunity for residents to donate.

Products can be dropped at Jordan and Mason, on St Thomas Square, or partner Begbies Traynor, on Devizes Road.

Mr Jordan added: "What is going on is so terrible, we just wanted to do a little something that will improve what's going on to these shell shocked people leaving families behind.

"You can’t imagine leaving your family, saying good bye and turning to the future with no real prospect of health and welfare.

"It's bringing a bit of light to them in these dark times, it would just be a help.

"We know that so many people have already done so much so we are grateful for any support that we can have, and we thank you in anticipation for anything the people of Salisbury can do to help."
