An Andover man has been fined for attending an illegal Covid gathering.
Marcus James Mitchell, 27, of Florence Court, was ordered to pay fines totalling more than £2,000.
He was charged with participating in a gathering of more than two people in a public outdoor place, in a tier 4 area, "without reasonable excuse and other than as permitted by the Regulations".
This took place on February 28, 2021, at Andover.
Mitchell was ordered to pay a total of £2,021, which included a fine of £1,760, a surcharge to fund victim services of £176, along with costs of £85.
The fine was issued at Aldershot Magistrates Court on September 21.
The law enforced was Schedule 3A to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020, which set out the different rules in the tier system.
The Government is also set to expire all the temporary provisions of the Coronavirus Act, emergency legislation passed by Parliament on March 25, 2020.
In his speech on Monday (February 21), Boris Johnson said that 36 of the original 40 provisions expired this week.
The remaining four, relating to innovations in public service, will expire in six months, "after we have made those improvements permanent via other means".
