Emergency services were in Salisbury city centre today for a dog rescue effort.
Sources say a terrier had fallen into the River Avon outside Bishops Mill in The Maltings, and crowds gathered to watch as services attempted to fish out a dog.
The Journal understands that the dog did not survive.

The area was cordoned off, and services in attendance included the police, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Animal Rescue Team, and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.
