FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of a deer trapped in the railings of a gate in Verwood.
A crew from Verwood were called to Verwood Care Home on Ringwood Road shortly before 10 on Tuesday morning (January 18).
Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to spread the bars of the gate and release the deer.
Verwood Fire Station said the deer was being cared for by Moyles Court Animal Rescue, and added that attempts to release the deer weren't successful so it was taken back to the centre for rest and rehabilitation.
The incident was dealt with by 10.15am.
Wellbeing and Lifestyle Coach at Verwood House Emilia Turner said: “We care so much about wildlife here at Verwood House and we are happy we were able to help. We are delighted the deer is safe now.”
She explained that they had noticed a deer in the garden area which ran into a gate.
Quick-thinking Emilia contacted local Moyles Court Animal Rescue and a team from the Verwood Fire Station were also called.
