CASES heard at Salisbury and Swindon Magistrates' courts:

PRAKASH GURUNG, aged 37, of Sidbury Circular Road, Tidworth, pleaded guilty to assault by beating on June 25, 2021. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85. He must complete 60 hours of unpaid work.

WESLEY PAUL BROWN, aged 27, of Beechfield, Newton Tony, indicated a plea of guilty to dangerous driving along the A303 in Amesbury on March 31, 2021. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 15 months, and must complete 160 hours of unpaid work.

WILLIAM ENDEAVOUR CULVERWELL, aged 18, of Melusine Road, Covingham, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing radiators, to the value of £1,100, while in Salisbury on May 14, 2021. Culverwell was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £22 and costs of £85. He was ordered to attend appointments and activities as instructed by an officer and must complete 60 hours of unpaid work.

HELDER MANUEL DA ASSUNGAS CATARINO, aged 51, of no fixed abode, indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting a police officer while in Salisbury on May 20, 2021. On the same day he used threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour towards a police constable, with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence, and he had in his possession a quantity of Pregabalin. The defendant was committed to prison for eight weeks suspended for 18 months. He was ordered to receive alcohol treatment and to attend appointments and activities as instructed by an officer. Heard at a later hearing, Catarino failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the supervision requirements and was jailed for seven days. He was ordered to pay compensation of £200.

TOBY CHARLES MITCHELL, aged 25, of Salisbury Road, Shrewton, indicated a plea of guilty to possessing 8.89g of methylenedioxymethylamphetamine (MDMA), 12.6g of Ketamine, and a quantity of cannabis, all on June 28, 2020. Mitchell was discharged conditionally for 12 months and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £22.

GORDON DONALD ANDREWS, aged 61, of Hawks Ridge, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen along Wilton Road in Salisbury with cocaine in his system on April 18, 2021. His blood work showed more than 13 micrograms of drug per litre of blood, exceeding the legal limit. Andrews was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for one year.

SONNIE KERLEY, aged 31, of Bishop Row, Longhedge, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without the appropriate policy of insurance. The offences were recorded on April 28, 2021, when Kerley was driving a Renault Clio along Mottershead Road. He was committed to prison for six weeks and was disqualified from driving for a further 25 months. The offences were aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128 and costs of £85.

SOPHIE ATKINSON, alias Sophie Ring, aged 33, of Haragon Drive, Amesbury, was found guilty of failing to give information to police relating to the identification of a driver allegedly guilty of an offence. She was fined £660 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £66 and costs of £110. Her driving record was endorsed with six points.

BENJAMIN TANNER, aged 23, of Firle Road, Lancing, pleaded guilty to using a vehicle in Bulford without the appropriate policy of insurance on November 9, 2020. He was fined £230 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £110. His driving record was endorsed with eight points.
