THE inquests into the deaths of three drivers killed in a collision on the A303 have been delayed due to an ‘ongoing’ police investigation.

Two drivers had stopped to help a third who had broken down on the westbound dual carriageway near Andover on August 25 2021, the inquest opening at Winchester Coroner’s Court heard on September 15. They were struck by a lorry.

One of the victims, 30-year-old Tom Watson, worked as a recovery truck driver at RD Avery in Landford.

Tina Rose Ince, 58, of Lydgate Street, Southampton, died of severe multiple injuries, said consultant pathologist Dr Adnan Al-Badri who conducted post mortems at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.

He also reported that Alex Britton, 28, of Fifth Avenue, Portsmouth, and Mr Watson, of Cheriton Avenue, Southampton, died of severe head injuries.

Ms Ince and Mr Watson had parked by the road to try to assist Ms Britton, said area coroner Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp.

Police arrested a 38-year old lorry driver from Shropshire on suspicion of drug driving and causing death by dangerous driving.

The inquests were adjourned and due to be held on January 21 2022. However, the court has since confirmed that they have now been delayed.

A Hampshire Coroners Courts spokesperson said: “We are awaiting the outcome of the police investigation which is currently still ongoing therefore the inquests have been adjourned.”

A new date is yet to be set.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson added that no update is available at this time, and could confirm only that “enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing”.
