A FORMER pub is to be converted into a home.
The Roebuck Inn at the High Street, Sixpenny Handley, ceased trading in 2019.
It already had accommodation on the first floor with parking for six cars and a garage in the grounds.
A previous planning appeal overturned a council refusal to allow the conversion of the building into three 2-bed apartments.
The latest application is to convert the building into a single home with only minor changes to the exterior including new French doors and patio doors.
Sixpenny Handley and Pentridge Parish Council objected to the previous conversion plans and to the current application which Dorset Council has now approved. It said it was disappointed to see the change of plans from three flats to a single home in such a short time.
The Area of Outstanding Beauty officer said that while it would be preferred to see the business continue trading it, and many others, had been affected badly by the pandemic, concluding: ”In many respects it is important that a building in this location on the High Street has a clear function rather than being an unused, or underused, facility”.
