The best way to protect yourself from the new Covid variant, Omicron, is to get a booster vaccine officials have advised. 

Local GPs (BSW CCG) said they are 'stepping up efforts' to offer all eligible adults over 18 a booster jab by December 31. 

But what percentage of people in your area have had even their first or second Covid jab?

Here are the top ten areas for third or booster jab uptake in Wiltshire, as well as the latest data on the percentage of locals to have a first or second Covid vaccine. 

These figures are the latest published by Public Health England and include data up to December 19. 

Top ten areas in Wiltshire for Covid Booster uptake

Some areas have a much higher percentage of residents who have received a third Covid jab than others. 

Here are the top ten areas for 3rd vaccine coverage in Wiltshire, as of December 19:

  1. Whaddon, Whiteparish & Winterslow (70.8 per cent)

  2. Salisbury Stratford (67.4 per cent)

  3. Wilton, Nadder & Ebble (67.2 per cent)

  4. Downton & Morgan's Vale (66.2 per cent)

  5. Great Wishford, Woodford Valley & Porton (66 per cent)

  6. Mere & East Knoyle (65.7 per cent)

  7. Tisbury, Donhead & Tollard Royal (65.1 per cent)

  8. Salisbury Bishopsdown (65.0 per cent)

  9. Salisbury Cathedral & Harnham (64.0 per cent)

  10. Winsley, Westwood & Holt (62.4 per cent)

Areas with the lowest Covid Booster uptake 

The area with the lowest percentage of residents with a 3rd Covid vaccine in Wiltshire was Larkhill, Shrewton & Bulford Camp where only 30.1% of people over the age of 12 accepted a 3rd vaccine.

The bottom five areas for 3rd Covid vaccine coverage, as of December 19, are:

  1. Larkhill, Shrewton & Bulford Camp (30.1 per cent)
  2. Tidworth and Ludgershall (30.6 per cent)
  3. Trowbridge North (38 per cent)
  4. Trowbridge South East (40.7 per cent)
  5. Royal Wootton Bassett Outer & Lyneham (42.2 per cent)

As of Public Health data from December 19, 88.6% of Wiltshire residents over the age of 12 have received their first Covid vaccine dose and 82.3% have recieved their 2nd dose. 

Out of the 62 areas in Wiltshire, there are 21 areas where the percentage of the population to have recieved their first jab is at over 90%. 

The top three areas for percentage of people to receive their 1st jab are:

  1. Whaddon, Whiteparish & Winterslow (92.9 per cent)
  2. Salisbury Stratford (91.9 per cent)
  3. Wilton, Nadder & Ebble (90.8 per cent)

The top three areas for percentage of people to receive their 2nd jab are:

  1. Whaddon, Whiteparish & Winterslow (87.1 per cent)
  2. Great Wishford, Woodford Valley & Porton (86.5 per cent)

  3. Downton & Morgan's Vale (86.2 per cent)

Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire CCG Director of Nursing and Quality Gill May said on December 13: “We are pulling out all the stops to ensure we meet the vaccination target announced by the government.

“It is going to be an incredibly busy few weeks, and I ask for people to show their support to our already-stretched vaccine teams by pre-booking appointments wherever possible and treating our staff with kindness and respect.”

In a video message today, December 21, the Prime Minister encouraged people to “drop everything” if they have yet to get a Covid vaccine and get boosted in the face of Omicron.
