A PATIENT at Salisbury District Hospital has died after testing positive for Covid-19.

The man who was in his 90s and had underlying health conditions died today (December 13).

A total of 231 patients have now passed away at Salisbury District Hospital, within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

A spokesperson for the hospital said: "Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Monday 13th December.

"The patient was in his 90s and had underlying health conditions. Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

There are currently 19 Covid-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.

The spokesperson added: "We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission, such as mask wearing in crowded places and good hand hygiene.

"In addition, people should take up the invitation for a Covid-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine.”
