A drink driver was arrested following a police pursuit in Tidworth last night.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving when above the alcohol limit, driving a motor vehicle dangerously, failure to stop, possession of class A drugs, possession of class B drugs, and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Officers on patrol spotted a grey Mercedes driving in a manner of concern on the A3026 in Ludgershall last night (Wednesday, December 1).
There was then a short pursuit, before the vehicle stopped on Silbury Hill Avenue, and the driver was arrested at the scene.
He was taken to Melksham Police Station, where he remains in custody.
Yesterday, Wiltshire Police joined the national drink and drug drive campaign led by the National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC), for the month of December.
The campaign is to raise awareness of the potential dangers and consequences of drink and drug driving.
Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit will be supported by Community Policing Teams across Wiltshire and Swindon to carry out increased patrols and operational activity, conduct high profile and intelligence-led traffic stops, and target those motorists who pose a huge risk to themselves and the lives of other road users.
