A STORE that captures nature in a bottle has now opened in Salisbury, offering "something a bit different" to the shopping scene.
Captive Worlds opened last Thursday, November 11, specialising in aquariums and terrariums, and the associated aquatic plants, rocks, mounting and heating accessories.
Owner John Arnold recently moved from Somerset to Gillingham to bring his venture to Salisbury, which started as just a small interest around six years ago.
"This hobby has jut grown and grown into something that I really love," John told the Journal, "It's my passion so I wanted a job out of it and to make a living out of it, and so bringing the shop here has been great."
Since opening terrariums have been a bestseller, which is a garden inside a bottle, as they are a good Christmas gift, John added.
Captive Worlds, which can be found along Crane Street, took around seven weeks to come to life, with John sorting the interior and sourcing the products himself.
With one week of business complete, he said: "People here love it, it's something that hasn't really been seen here before.
"The customers are so friendly and welcoming here too. Come down and have a look around to see something a bit different."
Retail partner of Myddelton and Major, the estate agents which let the space, Simon Lee said: “We are delighted to have assisted in this letting, and to support new business entrepreneurs in taking retail space within Salisbury City Centre, which will add to the varied retail offer."
