The A31 is to close this evening to recover an overturned Heavy Goods Vehicle.

At around 1.30pm today (Wednesday, November 17), Hampshire police were called to reports of a lorry colliding with a bridge.

The incident occurred on the westbound carriageway of the A31 at Ringwood, before the A338, causing it to overturn.

No injuries have been reported.

Currently, one lane is closed on the A31 Westbound between A338 Salisbury Road and Eastfield Lane.

A spokesperson from the police said: "The carriageway will need to be closed to recover the vehicle, so drivers are urged to avoid the route ahead of rush hour."

According to vehicle recovery firm, R D Avery Limited, the A31 will close completely around 5pm to recover the overturned vehicle.

It will close at the Poulner junction.

The company says there will be no official diversion route.

All HGV vehicles are being asked to divert from M27 Junction 2, and go to Salisbury and back down the A338.
