FIVE cases heard by Salisbury Magistrates' Court:

JAMES ROBERT SWAINSON, aged 44, previously of Barnard Street, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to stealing tools from B&Q in Salisbury, to the value of around £162, on January 30. He was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. The defendant’s time spent in custody was considered time served for the offence. Heard at a later hearing, Swainson was jailed for 14 weeks after admitting his failure to comply with the requirements of a suspended sentence order. The suspended sentence was previously ordered as Swainson was convicted of burglary, theft, damaging a police cell and using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour.

ADAM MARK JOLLIFFE, aged 34, of Matrons Cottages, Whaddon, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs. On February 5 he was recorded driving a Ford Transit along Petersfinger Road in Salisbury with delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol - the main psychoactive ingredient of cannabis - in his blood. Jolliffe was fined £261 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

SAMUEL GEORGE BAILEY, aged 22, of Tournament Road, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to driving along Burcombe Lane in Wilton on September 28 last year without the appropriate licence or policy of insurance. He was fined £160 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £120. His driving record was endorsed with six points. At a later hearing Bailey indicated a plea of guilty to stealing artefacts in Wilton on March 16, alongside Joby Barney and David Willett. For this he was fined £240 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.

DAVID JAMES WILLETT, aged 32, of Shaston Drove, Coombe Bissett, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing artefacts in Wilton on March 16, alongside Joby Barney and Samuel Bailey. Willett was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and was detained in the courthouse.

JOBY WILLIAM JESSE BARNEY, aged 29, of East Street, Hindon, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing artefacts in Wilton on March 16, alongside Samuel Bailey and David Willett. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and was detained in the courthouse. Barney was also under a curfew for three weeks. Heard at a later hearing, Barney was fined £50, as the address he had previously provided the courts did not exist.
