The global icon Ed Sheeran who used Salisbury recording studios for his latest album has just released his upcoming European tour dates.

This summer the famous singer-songwriter appeared on ITV’s Lorraine Live from Salisbury where he was putting the finishing touches on his latest album which he confirmed in August would be called, ‘=’ or ‘equals’.

After Ed Sheeran's public visit to Salisbury in July, fans took to Twitter to express their excitement.

Salisbury’s mayor Caroline Corbin was disappointed to have missed him and sent him an invitation for next time.

She said: "It would have been nice to have had him at the Guildhall and to have done something.

“My message to him would be if you're here in the next year, give me a shout and we'll invite you to tea."

His latest Album, ‘=’, is set to be released on October 29th and is highly anticipated.

The industry speculated it would be titled ‘minus’ and when he announced the official ‘=’ title in August it turned out to be very close to the mark.

This follows on from his 2011 album, Plus ‘+’, 2014 album Multiply ‘x’, and 2017 album Divide ‘÷’, which follow a three-year pattern with the exception of this year's release.

Sheeran describes ‘=’ as a ‘coming of age record’ and says “I’ve never been more proud of a body of work, or more excited/nervous for you all to hear it.”

The 2022 tour will be called The Mathematics tour or '+','x','÷','=' tour. 

‘Shivers’, his new single, was lifted from the '=' album and came out on September 10th and replaced his own song at the top of the Official U.K. Singles Chart.

Last friday he was crowned the first British solo artist to claim a full year at number one on the UK singles chart. 

The single he replaced was Bad Habits which he released on June 25th. 

He will be performing from London’s Wembley Stadium for three consecutive nights from June 29th to July 1st which is the closest UK venue to Salisbury.

Twelve other UK performances were announced as part of the tour, at venues in Glasgow, Manchester, Sunderland, Cardiff and Belfast.

He will also be performing in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Ireland.

You never know, perhaps in between tour dates he’ll pop back to the Guildhall for a cuppa.
