COVID-safe measures will still be in place when voters attend the polls for the Swindon and Wiltshire Police & Crime Commissioner elections.
Despite Covid-19 restrictions lifting, Wiltshire Council will continue to have safety measures in place at the 344 stations across the county on August 19 to protect residents as they vote for the new PCC.
The local authority has said that voters will be encouraged to wear face masks while inside their polling stations and to socially distance themselves.
A spokesman for the council said: “And just like the elections in May, people are asked to bring along their own pen to cast their vote, although a small supply will be available for people to use should they forget.”
Police area returning officer and council chief executive, Terence Herbert said: “With thousands of people congregating at polling stations throughout the county, and local Covid rates still high, we think it’s perfectly sensible to have some measures in place to keep voters and our staff safe.
“There might be people a little anxious about getting out and voting or perhaps who aren’t double vaccinated yet, so we ask that people respect the measures we have in place and play their part to keep everyone as safe as possible.”
