A FAMILY-RUN motorcycle shop in Old Sarum is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
VP Motorcycles Ltd is run by Vince Prevett with his wife Kate and is located at Sarum Business Park on Lancaster Road.
After years of working with bikes at other shops, Vince, who also used to race motorcycles, decided the time was right to start up his own in 2011.
He said: “It’s gone very quickly and been a bit of a blur. We’ve just gone from strength to strength from the day we opened - it’s snowballed.”
Vince, whose passion for all things bikes started from an early age, says it has got “busier and busier” since the shop first started.
The business has stayed open for much of the pandemic.
And this July has been a particular busy month for the firm.
“I never thought we’d be this busy. I always wanted to be busy enough to earn a living doing what I love, working on motorcycles,” he added.
Speaking about the 10-year milestone, Kate said: “It is a massive achievement for us as we started the business from scratch.”
The shop has a motorcycle garage offering MOTs, tyre fitting and puncture repairs as well as services, rebuilds, custom builds and modifications. It also sells parts, clothing and motorcycle helmets and other items.
The business has stayed open during the pandemic helping keep their customers on the road.
“We just do things a bit differently,” added Kate. “Our customers are treated as if they are friends.”
She says the shop offers “good customer service and value so people come back and tell their friends”.
VP Motorcycles also supports local charities and likes to get involved in different fundraising initiatives as a way of “giving back to the community”.
Vince works alongside two other mechanics.
Reflecting on the last 10 years, Kate said: “It’s been really enjoyable. I’m really proud of how popular we’ve been.
“The biggest thing is people trust us and want to come back again and again.”
