A MAN was left needing hospital treatment after an assault in the city centre.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident on New Canal outside Chick-o-Land on Saturday (June 19) and say when officers arrived the victim was unconscious.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released pending further enquiries.
A statement from police said: "We're looking for witnesses following an assault in Salisbury in the early hours of Saturday morning (19/06) which left a man needing hospital treatment.
"It happened outside Chick-o-land at around 12.45am.
"When our officers arrived, the victim was unconscious and a 34-year old-man was trying to stop door staff from giving him first aid. He's been arrested on suspicion of assault and released pending further enquiries."
