SOME of the latest cases heard by Salisbury and Swindon Magistrates' courts:

GEORGE SAVAGE, aged 82, of Burton in Mere, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating in Mere on August 16 last year. He was fined £533 and was ordered to pay compensation of £175 and costs of £85.

WAYNE SAVAGE, aged 46, of Churchill Road, Poole, pleaded guilty to intentionally causing a person to feel harassed, alarmed or distressed through his behaviour in Mere on August 16 last year. He was fined £653 and was ordered to pay compensation of £90 and costs of £85.

LALMUANPUIA RALTE, aged 39, of Hungerford Close, Basingstoke, pleaded guilty to driving while exceeding the legal alcohol limit. On Christmas day last year he was driving a Volkswagen Passat along the A338 in Salisbury, with 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. Ralte was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £85. The defendant was also disqualified from holding a driving licence for 14 months.

BRETT MICHAEL NORTH, aged 41, of Petersfield Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, during an investigation into whether a driving offence had been committed. The incident took place in Amesbury on December 18 last year. North was ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.

MICHELLE ANGELIQUE BUTCHER, aged 40, of Friary Lane, Salisbury, indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting a police officer by beating in Salisbury on December 29 last year. Butcher was ordered to pay compensation of £80 and costs of £85.

JOSH JOSEPH FRANK CLIFFT, aged 26, of Davies Road, Longhedge, pleaded guilty to not paying for a meal in Amesbury on July 14 last year, with intent to avoid a total of £91. He was ordered to pay compensation of £45.58.

MARIE JUSTINE PEGLER, aged 31, of Weeping Ash, Fovant, also pleaded guilty to not paying for a meal in Amesbury on July 14 last year, with intent to avoid a total of £91. She was ordered to pay compensation of £45.58.

JOANNE CONNELLY, aged 30, of Partridge Way, Old Sarum, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs. On May 27 last year Connelly was driving a Ford Mondeo along Lower Road in Quidhampton with benzoylecgonine - the main metabolite of cocaine - in her blood. She also pleaded guilty to driving without the appropriate policy of insurance, and driving a car with a tyre that had the ply or cord exposed. Connelly was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. She was disqualified from driving for 12 months.

RICKY JAMES SKUSE, aged 30, of Rollestone Street, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to intentionally causing another person harassment, alarm or distress through his behaviour in Tisbury on July 5 last year. Skuse was ordered to pay compensation of £100.

JOE LEONARD DAY, aged 19, of Birchwood Drive, Durrington, pleaded guilty to causing property damage in Downton. On July 25 last year Day damaged a window to the value of £215, a door window pane belonging to The Bull Hotel, £176, and the wing mirror of a Peugeot Motorhome. On August 14 in Salisbury he damaged a window pane to the value of £74. Day was ordered to pay a total compensation of £465.75 and he must complete 100 hours of unpaid work.
