Fire crews were called to a Cranborne property last night after an emergency call reporting a fire in a chimney.
Reports say one appliance was mobilised after the call, and then following further calls saying the fire had spread to the roof further appliances were mobilised.
On arrival, the crews confirmed it was confined to the chimney of a three storey building.
A thermal imaging camera was used to check the roof space.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews from Cranborne and Verwood were called to a property on Salisbury Street, Cranborne at 9.39pm yesterday evening.
Firefighters found a fire located in the chimney of a three storey building and used a chimney kit to extinguish the fire.
The stop came at 10.09pm."
