Salisbury city centre came alive today (Monday May 31) as families and groups of friends made the most of the sunny bank holiday.

Hot temperatures, which reached highs of 23 degrees, encouraged residents to come out in their droves to enjoy the city's parks, shops and hospitality venues.

The Cathedral Close was a popular destination with groups of friends taking advantage of the glorious weather to sit in the sun.

Cafes across the city were also very busy, especially outdoors.

Over the bank holiday weekend, City Encounters put on free theatre, circus and dance performaces in the Guildhall Square and the Cathedral Close, drawing crowds of fascinated onlookers both on Sunday and Monday.

Tomorrow (Tuesday June 1) is expected to be another sunny day with highs of 24 degrees.

The summer-like weather looks like is here to stay with sunshine and hot temperatures forecast for most of the week ahead.
