Police in Amesbury have called out a speeding driver's pathetic excuse for going above the legal limit.
Officers were checking the speed of vehicles on Boscombe Road/Boscombe Hill in Amesbury on Thursday afternoon (April 29).
Worryingly, they spotted three drivers well in excess of the 30mph speed limit in just one hour, the local policing team said on its Facebook page.
One speeding driver was clocked at 53mph in the 30 zone.
Another registered speeds of 49mph and a third of 46mph.
One driver caught in the act offered a particularly pathetic excuse, though.
Officers were so unimpressed with it they shamed the limp argument publicly on Facebook.
The Amebsury Police team said: "One driver stated “It’s a steep hill” – They were kindly reminded that their vehicle is fitted with brakes…"
