More than 30,000 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine in Salisbury, according to the city MP.

MP John Glen revealed on Twitter that 34,027 of his constituents have been given at least one dose.

In a tweet posted at 12.15 on Friday February 26, he said: "Absolutely delighted with the success of the vaccination programme in Salisbury.

"Data I received last night shows 34,027 constituents (34.8% of people) have received at least one dose - a fantastic achievement! I look forward to seeing this continue rising over the coming weeks."

On Thursday February 25, the NHS confirmed the vaccine rollout in south Wiltshire had reached a second milestone with the delivery of 10,000 jabs by GP practices in the Sarum West Primary Care Network.

These were administered at Michael Herbert Hall but also in care homes and in the homes of those who are housebound.

At the weekend, staff and volunteers at City Hall confirmed 10,000 vaccines had also been administered at the venue.

According to the latest figures, 80,604 jabs have been administered to people under 65-years-old across the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire area.

The numbers cover the period from December 8, 2020, up until Sunday, February 21.
