Salisbury District Hospital has recorded no new Covid-19 deaths in three days.

The last patient to have died having tested positive for the virus passed away on Monday February 8.

No new deaths linked to coronavirus have been recorded since, meaning the hospital's death toll since the pandemic began remains 188.

It is the first time since the start of the second wave that no Covid patients have died at the hospital in 72 hours.

The number of patients being admitted into the Odstock Road site because of the virus is also declining.

As of 10am today (Friday February 12), 56 positive patients are being cared for on site compared to 62 on Tuesday February 9.

Despite the very encouraging drop, "we're not out of the woods yet," Chief Executive Stacey Hunter has stressed.

Staff continue to remain under pressure and it is imperative people continue to follow lockdown rules.
