Heavy snowfall is affecting traffic in and around Salisbury.

There are traffic warnings from the AA about wintry hazards on the A30, A303 and A343.

On the A30 there are a number of problem areas.

West of Salisbury, on the A30 near Burcombe, heavy snow on the road surface was first reported at 7.07am today (January 24), making it difficult to pass.

East of the city, there are two snowy trouble spots flagged by the AA’s traffic map.

Firstly at Lopcombe, again on the A30, where snow on the road was first reported at 8.07am.

Then further east on the A343, there are problems both ways between Falaise Road and the B3084 Romsey Road.

Finally A303 traffic is also affected, with at least one patch hit hard by snow.

There has been slow traffic both ways between the A36 (Deptford/Codford turn off) and the A371 (Wincanton turn off).

It takes extra caution to pass through the snow at this point, the AA traffic alert says.

Access to Salisbury District Hospital is now clear, the hospital has confirmed, after some residents raised concerns about tough conditions first thing on Sunday.
