TWO sheep were killed on the B3078 - two weeks after three donkeys were died at that same spot.

A warning has been issued by New Forest National Park Authority urging motorists to drive carefully as freezing conditions are expected.

The sheep deaths happened on Monday (December 28).

In a post on New Forest NPA Facebook page said: "With freezing conditions expected across the Forest for the next week please drive slowly across the Forest day and night.

"Two sheep were killed yesterday [December 28]. This happened at the same spot the three donkeys were killed only two weeks ago on the B3078 Cadnam to Cotshill road.

"When crossing a cattle grid you will see animals in and on the sides of roads. You must slow down, give them a wide berth and expect them to cross. The road gritters will be out due to the weather and the ponies can often be seen licking the salt off the road.

"At this time of the year when daylight is limited and weather conditions vary, drivers should take extra care and adjust their speed. It is important to be aware, visibility can be very poor and that other vehicles’ headlights may impede your view of the road ahead."

Three donkeys were killed in the New Forest on December 12. Police were called just after 7am to reports of a collision on the B3078 Roger Penny Way, close to the Fritham junction, involving a white Mercedes van and three donkeys.
